Hello! My name is Sean (my tag is OuterRim) and I originially created this tool for myself, thought it would be cool to integrate into a website for anyone to use!
I made this whole tool just about all on my own. I made all the pixelart, made the graphic design, coded the generator, and the website. I did not make the font though (Public Pixel), but it's free to use. UPDATE: 4/27/2023 - I added new fonts made by Huttaburger! Their art is super cool so you should check it out! I'm a big fan!
I know the generator is not perfect (yet :0). I'm not an expert at graphic design, art, or web design, but I think I had enough experience to make it all look and work alright.
I drew the sprites using Aesprite, I made the generator in Python using the Pillow library, used Flask to host the website.
Please reach out to me on twitter (@OuterimSean) if you wanna get in contact, I don't check it often but I swear I'm friendly and will be happy to talk!
Obviously, I didn't make Smash Brothers and don't own the rights to it or the characters in it. (lol I wish)
What can I use this for?
Feel free to use the results of the generator for whatever you want! You don't have to ask me for permission or anything like that. I'd be cool if you don't crop my twitter off the graphic, but you can if you want to lol. If you post it to Twitter too it'd be cool if you could @ me cause I wanna see it in use! You don't have to though. I'd be super awesome if you could tell other people about the site so it can grow, I'd love to see more and more people using it! If you want access to the assets, such as the pixelart, reach out to me through Twitter and I'll most likely be able to hook you up with 'em so you can use them for whatever.
I want X feature! Can you please impliment it?
Tell me on Twitter! I've already got a lot of features in the pipeline, but if you have a great idea I'm more than happy to try and add it in! As a start, secondary support is coming next!
Hey I posted the animated version on Twitter and it doesn't look good, what gives!?
Yes, I'm aware it doesn't look great as it is now. Twitter does weird stuff to GIFs, especially pixelart ones. I'm working on trying to make it look better, but for now I recommend using the animated version on Discord, and the static version for Twitter but if it looks good enough for you feel free to do as you will with it.
